Vanmiddag maakte het Davidsfonds de vier nationale laureaten van de Junior Journalist-wedstrijd 2012 bekend tijdens een spetterend eindfeest op Festival aan Zee in De Panne. Uit maar liefst 36 531 deelnemers selecteerde een jury van bekende auteurs en journalisten twee jongens en twee meisjes als eindwinnaars van Vlaanderens grootste schrijfwedstrijd voor jongeren. De laureaten werden letterlijk bedolven onder de prijzen.
De Mechelse regio blijkt een goede kweekvijver te zijn voor jong journalistiek talent. In de top 3 vinden we maar liefst 2 streekgenoten terug.
In reeks 1 (derde graad basisonderwijs): Astrid Vaganée uit Kapelle-op-den-Bos, met het fantasierijke ‘Mijn computer praat met mij’, Hierin vertelt ze hoe haar computer haar helpt om de Junior Journalist-wedstrijd te winnen.
In reeks 2 (eerste graad secundair onderwijs): Stef Van Aken uit Boechout, die in ‘Spielvögel’ beschrijft hoe hij in een spannend game terechtkomt en wordt achtervolgd door een gevaarlijke tyrannosaurus.
In reeks 3 (tweede graad secundair onderwijs): Jolien Op de Beeck uit Bonheiden, met haar interview ‘Identiteitsmisbruik via chatrooms’. Ze interviewt Katrijn, een meisje dat zich op de chat laat verleiden tot een gevaarlijk afspraakje.
De jonge schrijftalenten gingen met goed gevulde zakken naar huis. In de prijzenpot zaten onder andere boekenstapels tot 700 euro, redactiestages bij Ketnet en Het Nieuwsblad, vakantieweekends, een ontmoeting met hun favoriete auteur of journalist, gsm’s … Bovendien wordt het winnende interview in Het Nieuwsblad gepubliceerd. Ook de scholen van de winnaars werden in de bloemetjes gezet met een boekenpakket ter waarde van 350 euro.
